What do you say? AHHH!!! The White Sox bullpen is seemingly handing over the crown for the AL central, and Rich and Ryan are here to talk about it. The JJ Putz problem, Bobby Jenks’ back, Carlos Quentin and his bat named ‘precious’. We’ll give you a series recap, and a preview of the possible “do or die” series with the Twins at target field. Unfortunately, there will be no episode released this Tuesday. When we recorded it this morning, we re listened to it and found that there was radio interference throughout the entire episode. We spent as much time as we could trying to fix it, but it just wasn't happening. Rather than record an episode after tonight's game, we figured we'll just give you guys a more full Friday episode. We're sorry, Rich and I just don't have the time to re record an entire episode and get it up to our standards and have it out well before tonight's game. So, again, we're really sorry. New year, New Excitement
Every spring training brings a new found optimism for the Sox. Each year someone new looks exciting (Peavy), comes to camp lighter (Andruw Jones), or does something exciting to spark your interest (Beckham). This year is no different. In my eyes there are three things to look forward to for the upcoming 2010 season
The reemergence of Andruw Jones. From 1997 – 2006 Andruw Jones was one of the most exciting players to watch, offensively and defensively. He is a player who for ten full years with the Atlanta Braves hit 337 Home Runs, had 1010 RBIs and stole 130 bases all while winning 9 Gold Gloves. Other than having a solid spring hitting .326 hitting 2 HR and driving in 9 RBI, what is there to look forward to with Andruw? He had arrived to camp shedding 30 lbs. and maybe finally realized what he was missing after riding the bench for the Dodgers and the Rangers. Anyways, wouldn’t it be cool to watch Andruw Jones of old in Black and White?
Gordon Beckham. Who was the last player the White Sox had that was as highly touted as Gordo that actually got some real playing time at the major league level that actually showed promise? Whoever you feel it was, Gordon Beckham is it, right now. After starting his professional career in 2008 at Kannapolis, he quickly made his way through the Sox Minors system finally reaching “The Show” June 4, 2009. A converted Short Stop, Beckham learned a new position and acclimated himself to play with and against the best baseball had to offer.
The Pitching Staff. During the spring the National Media is not been sold on the White Sox pitching staff having Ace #1a and Ace #1b in Peavy and Buehrle. The biggest complaint for the “Downfall” of Peavy is moving for pitcher friendly Pet-co to hitter friendly U.S. Cellular. Last year Clayton Richard gave up 7 HR in 64 IP for 1.0 HR per 9 IP for the Padres conversely in 89 innings gave up 10 HR for 1.0 HR per 9 IP for the Sox. Not to compare Peavy to Richard but the point speaks for itself. In his 12 IP at U.S. Cellular he has surrendered 1 HR. Also, we have Mark Buehrle, who if he stays away form no hitters and perfect games should be solid. Gavin Floyd and John Danks as solid number three and four starters who both could be 2 or 3 starters with many teams. The fifth starter, Freddy Garcia could be a little shaky but the Sox having an issue with the fifth starter is not as bad as most teams who are looking for #3, 4 and 5 starters. The “#6” starter is Daniel Hudson who had a meteoric rise through the Sox System last year going, and succeeding, at every level from A to the Majors will be waiting if an injury arises or any other such issue.

Say it ain't So!!! ... Pauly
Paul Konerko told Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune that he's prepared to move on from the White Sox after the season and willing to listen if the team wants to discuss an extension."I've enjoyed my time here," Konerko said. "They might call tomorrow. They might call in the middle of the season. They might never call."
Could it be, a new first baseman on the South Side 2011? The current direction of the White Sox causes one to believe so. The Sox are going for younger more athletic and versatile players. During last years offseason the Sox acquired Brent Lillibridge, Jayson Nix, Mark Kotsay (not looking youth, just versatility in the Kotsay trade) all these players are guys who will play multiple positions for you, most of them are gonna be bench guys. This year Kenny Williams took it a step further in trading for the multi-positional Mark Teahen, a player who can play multiple positions with a track record of successfully playing different positions. A change from aquiring the usual utility bench player, but now a utility starter. Also, Gordon Beckham, Alexei Ramirez and Carlos Quentin (to a lesser extent) can be used in different positions on the field. Is this a glimpse into the future?
Back to Konerko, It appears that his days are numbered in the White Sox organization. His numbers have been on a slow decline since 2005; Home Runs '05 -'09 40, 35, 31, 22, 28; Batting Avg .283, .313, .259, .240, .277; RBI's '05-'09 100, 113, 90, 62, 88. I love Pauly just as much as the next fan. But, we as Sox fans tend to be sentimental towards OUR players but we need to look realistically. Case in point, Look at Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye, two guys who have meant tons to the Sox and they have parted ways with them without "batting an eye". Thome hit his 500th Homer as a White Sox and Dye was the 2005 World Series MVP. But, their numbers have been on the decline over the past few years. The youth movement is now in full effect at 35 and Shields and I welcome it.

Big Frank - 500 the right way
In honor of the big hurt, we thought we'd put some rookie cards up of the sluggers of the era. Giambi looks like a cancer patient for Christ's sake. Funny how heads grow eight sizes over the course of a major league career...
Because of this, there's no way you can argue he's not a first ballot HOF'r. Not that the numbers don't stand up on their own, but because he's from a decade of cheaters, and science experiments, the writers will want him in even more.
Why does Barry Bonds's mustache look exactly like his eyebrows? That's just weird. He also has a certain "has anyone seen my rufies? I enjoy cats!" look in his eyes.
As far as Sosa goes... I'm not even touching that one.
"God damn i can't wait to smack that bitch ass ball!" Oh Frank, we love ya. Can't wait to see 35 on the wall in left.
